Sebastian and Jellbean Nov13

We have 2 new birds now. Today we went to Dr. Van Sant to pick 2 new birds,Jellbean and Sebastian. Jellybean is one of the Sunnyvale flock birds. She had crash a window. Sebastian s story is more complicated. According to vet office he is 25 years old. And he was somebody s pet for a long time.
First day was a ok day for new arrivers but today Frida and Niki decided not to permit them near the food dishes. This situation ofcourse effecting poor Santiago too.

Oct 29 Indiana went to Santa Rosa

It was a sad and happy occasion to leave Indiana to Dr. Van Sant. She had her tests and with a clean health report he went to Santa Rosa for release program. After 3 years capture he will be a free bird. I am really happy for him. I wish our girls can do that too but unfortunately they are way to friendly with human.

4/28/13 Willow and Emerald left and Santiago and Indiana arrived.

Another active weekend. We had adopter for Emerald and Willow. And just before that Santiago and Indiana arrived.
<<Santiago is a wild parrot of Telegraph Hill who came into Mickaboo with early-stage neurological problems. After veterinary treatment, he's almost completely healed; sometimes he has trouble aiming for a treat in your hand, and gets around his cage a little slower than his companion, Indiana, but is otherwise a healthy, outgoing conure. He is very curious about other birds and will take treats from any human who offers, but he is still not sure about stepping up.

Indiana is a baby wild parrot of Telegraph Hill who came to Mickaboo having crashed into a building. She isn't too sure about humans unless they come bearing treats -- then she's happy to step up onto your hand. Indy is relatively quiet and calm (for a conure) and is super-smart; she learned how to "touch" the end of a pen with her beak in ten minutes flat and now her foster home is working with her to get her stepping up consistently. She argues with her friend, Santiago, over who gets to do clicker training.

Indy still needs a little work, but has the potential to be a very sweet, very tame companion parrot. She must be adopted with her friend, Santiago. >>
Emerald and Willow moved to Morgan Hills.I will miss this little fellows.

4/26/13 Fremont is Freda

Well it turns out Fremont is Freda. Niki still does not accept her. If Freda is on shoulder Niki flies and kicks her out. If she comes close to her cage Niki comes and attacks her. This is keep going on. It is sad because we got Freda just for Niki. And funny part Freda is a really sweet baby. She was incredibly tame, and she was so cuddly but after for a while Niki`s attacks now she is more shy and suspicious.
We decide to make a Sunroom and actually this way we can get more birds.

12-8-12 And Here Come Fremont

Mickaboo xmas party we talk with John about Niki. She is 2 years old and maturity kicked in. She is getig really bitchy and acting unusually tempered. John mentioned about a baby unfortunately a PA waiting for him.  Couple day later we got an email from him. Adoption fall true and he was asking us do we want Fremont.
Answered was yes of course. Charley picked him from Berkeley Saturday morning. He is shy but not wild. Already accepts shoulder surfing, little bit suspicious about hands but not afraid about people.
He still doesn't have full red cap. We arrange the cage and immediately we realized he is not like cages at all. His wings are clipped but he is still fly a little. We decide to keep Niki and Fremont separate for a while. Even thou Fremont was John`s house more than 6 weeks and he had a clean bill from Bird Hospital.
She just came to room on Charley`s shoulder saw  Fremont and when she return to her cage directly went to her water cup and took a bath. It was unusual. I told Charley I can bet with him Fremont is HE.
