12-8-12 And Here Come Fremont

Mickaboo xmas party we talk with John about Niki.She is 2 years old and maturity kicked in. She is getig really bitchy and acting unusually tempered. John mentioned about a baby unfortunately a PA waiting for him.  Couple day later we got an email from him. Adoption fall true and he was asking us do we want Fremont.

Answered was yes of course. Charley picked him from Berkeley Saturday morning. He is shy but not wild. Already accepts shoulder surfing, little bit suspicious about hands but not afraid about people.
He still doesn't have full red cap. We arrange the cage and immediately we realized he is not like cages at all. His wings are clipped but he is still fly a little. We decide to keep Niki and Fremont separate for a while. Even thou Fremont was John`s house more than 6 weeks and he had a clean bill from Bird Hospital.
She just came to room on Charley`s shoulder saw  Fremont and when she return to her cage directly went to her water cup and took a bath. It was unusual. I told Charley I can bet with him Fremont is HE.

11-11-12 Loma came as a friend for Sammy

Loma is a show girl.One of the Skansen dogs. She was pretty unlucky, unfortunately she couldn't get pregnant and ended with a young lady. After few years her conditions changed and she gave Loma to her father. Father had a farm she had chance to roam around freely till he killed couple chicken. She ended in a small kennel and her only fun was eating. She came over weight hardly moving situation. She had a broken spirit. Her tail was not wiggling , her ears were dropped and head always down. Only problem with Loma some odd reason she come out and directly goes a rug and piddle. We couldn't solve why. She is a sweet girl 8 years old. Probably not in a good health. But she tried so hard to fit in our house. Sammy act like a gentleman but totally ignored her from the first day. Loma lost at least 5 pounds more happier but after a month situation didnt change. Probably she will go back Skansen. But at least she had a god time.

11-30-12 Another pair

For the first pairs Honeymoon period they were so silent and nice we volunteered for another pair too.

Maddy and Laddy came from an old lady that her mother was a Turk. They are pretty wild and their cage was half full with seeds and 5 eggs on the bottom. We had that silent period with them too. But now home full with bird chirps:)

11-18-12 Little ones

When Fred was desperately looking for fosters for the Love Birds I couldn't resist. I did know we will get some fosters because renovation is finished at least Lovies the little ones look like a less work.
I am not ready for another Meyer like Indi to attack me or grind fingers.

These are Willow & Emerald. They were pretty shy first couple days. We went to Tracy to pick them up and met with Sue Walter`s and her son.
Their cage is not too big and as a pair they require just one service for food and cleaning:)

Second day Idora and GW

It turns out these little guys will leave us sooner than expected.They fund a long term foster home and they will leave this week. They are extremely quiet and neat s far.But of course honeymoon didnt finished yet. Few times they called each other with Nikki. They incredibly sweet and cute.It is so sad they can go back to their flock.

Greenwich and Idora

When these two little guys couldn't find any foster I broke my promise and volunteered.
Greenwich suppose to be a green conure. I am still not sure it is not a baby cherry head. Idora is really big. He/she has a big feet.Probably a miter or miter mix cherry head. They are pretty silent today.When they get comfortable they will begin screaming:) These couple will be really good fr Nikki.

Charley will take Nikki to vet for her annual check up and he will take two new guys for gender check.Let see are they girls or boys.

Cheeky gone

After a long occupation Cheeky gone today. She was a sweetheart and lately I was ready to crack and get close with her/him.Couple weeks ago he was almost jumping my shoulder, he was so ready for his person.
After a long wait today we had a visitor for him. A lonely lady with 2 cocktails lost her greencheek and looking for another one. Cheeky didnt act so well actually. Try to bite Charley couple time escape fares corner of his cage when we tried to take him out. But 2 hours later I told her there is option to foster to adopt tied the deal. 4 hours later we got the phone call and she asked where to send the check.Cheeky was allover her sitting her shoulder and giving kisses.
I am so glad this matched worked it out. Cheeky really deserved a good home.

Al&Baker gone

Last Saturday March 17th Al and Baker moved to their new home. House suddenly so silent. Niki is not yelling and little green cheek is silent too.
It is almost a year and we really attached these two. They are so cute but they were hard too. Now with only 2 bird life is much more easy

Charley start an assignment in Sacramento today. When Kerry begin to ask volunteer for transportation to Sacramento I volunteered Charley. I thought it will be only a cage. But this afternoon Boo showed up with a huge cage.Nice couple bring him. One of the ladies was pregnant and her allergies and her not that much bird friendly partner cause her to gave up from Boo.Boo is really good looking bird,but he is BIG!!
When they transfer him to cage I begin to think Ohh God how we will put this animal in that carrier again.
We will see how it will go tomorrow morning.

 

Cheeky

Max left us last week. He adopted before his quarantine finish. Before he left he bit Charley:)
He was trying to socialize Niki and Niki our little sweet gird decide she don't want that and bite him. Charley was trying to take him away and his hand was there and Max just grab and bite Charley.
Anyway we said that he afraid and that is normal. But next day Max decide Charley`s hand bit-able and did it again:) We begin to get alot of bird these days , last week it was look like birds raining all over especially Sun and Jenday Conures. When our empty foster spot I really didn't want to end with a sun. They are pretty but ohh gosh they are loud. And Charley working at home, he don't need that sounds all day long. Because of that I jump to foster for first greencheek conure.
His/her owner was sick and she couldn't take care of the bird anymore. Charley went to their house to pick up the bird at Sunday. He came back with a sad story. Birdys mom was terminally ill and husband was so occupied with his wife and their daughter was living in the apartment and she cant take the bird.
Poor thing didn't have a name. They always called Bird. But it was obvious they loved him/her,because cage was full with toys. Charley named Him/her Cheeky. And Cheeky really neat and silent tenant.
I am not handling her too much because it is so easy to attach him/her.

Max the big boy

PS.Yesterday Niki lost all of her feather tails. I don't know how but she stock them to the door and pull out. She look like a chicken now. I felt horrible. No more walking on the floor. And actually she was on her perch I don't know when did she come to floor,generally she doesn't leave her perch.
